ST. VRAINELECTRIC
Launching Spring 2027

Golf carts are coming to Longmont.

Not the kind you rent at the ninth hole. Street-legal low-speed vehicles — plated, titled, insured, and legal in the lane on every road in this town posted at 35 or under. Which, if you pull up a map of Longmont, is very nearly all of them.

The legal part, plainly

What actually makes a cart street legal.

In Colorado, a golf cart becomes a low-speed vehicle — an LSV — when it tops out above 20 and no more than 25 mph, weighs under 3,000 pounds fully rated, and carries the same seven pieces of equipment a car does. Get all of that and it is legal on any road posted 35 mph or under, and legal to cross a faster road at an intersection.

The part people miss: an LSV is a motor vehicle. It gets titled, registered, and plated at the DMV, it has to be insured like a car, and you need a valid driver's license to drive one. A cart without a VIN can never be plated, no matter what you bolt onto it — which is exactly why we will only sell carts that leave the factory as LSVs.

Summarized from Colorado's low-speed electric vehicle rules and the federal LSV equipment standard. Municipalities can add their own restrictions on specific corridors, so confirm your route with the City of Longmont or Boulder County before you plan a commute around it. We will walk you through all of it when carts land.

Why we're doing this

We want to build a golf cart culture in Longmont.

Almost every trip anyone takes in this town is under three miles. Old Town to Roosevelt Park. The house to the school. Main Street to the reservoir. We do all of those in a two-ton vehicle built to cruise at seventy on I-25, and then we spend ten minutes looking for somewhere to put it.

A street-legal cart is transport sized to the actual trip. It is slow enough that you talk to people at the light. It is open enough that you notice which trees are turning. It parks anywhere. And it costs about forty cents a night to fill.

Towns that get this right — Peachtree City, a hundred Florida neighborhoods — didn't plan it. Somebody sold the first twenty carts and the street changed around them. We would like to sell the first twenty carts in Longmont.

“The goal isn't to sell golf carts. It's that in five years you can't ride down Main on a Friday evening without passing four of them.”

— the reason this page exists

  • Old Town → Roosevelt Park

Eight blocks. It is a five-minute drive that takes ten once you have parked, and a perfect eight-minute cart ride that ends thirty feet from the playground.

  • The school run

Two kids, backpacks, a cello. A cart handles that the way a minivan does, except it costs about forty cents to charge and your neighbors wave at you.

  • Dinner on Main Street

Cart to dinner, park it in a space half the size of a truck's, and drive home under the lights at fifteen miles an hour with the sides open.

  • Out to Union Reservoir

Four miles of streets posted at or under 35. Load the cooler and the chairs in the back, take the whole family, and skip the parking lot scrum entirely.

Preview lineup

Three carts, if everything goes to plan.

Here is where our thinking is today. Nothing below is orderable yet, and we are not quoting prices — we are still finalizing which manufacturer we bring in, and the number moves with tariffs, battery costs, and what the LSV package actually costs to certify. When we can stand behind a price, the launch list gets it first.

Be first

Get the launch list.

When the first carts land at 418 Main Street, the launch list hears about it before the sign goes in the window — and gets the first test drives, before we open them up to walk-ins.

In the meantime, we are still an e-bike shop, and we are extremely good at that part. Come ride something.

One email when carts land. Launch-list riders get first test drives. Unsubscribe with one click, obviously.
